Artist's Description

Morning Snack -- The tallest living bird in North America, the Whooping Crane here has just caught a crayfish at the International Crane Foundation near Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. In 1941 there were only 41 of these birds in the world but now the world population is up to 599 total in captivity and the wild... a comeback from the brink of extinction but still severely threatened.
