Description
The travertine terraces at Mammouth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park. An amazing other-worldly place which serendipity brought us to right at sunset. Travertine, often white, tan, or cream colored in appearance, is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring.
